A Growing Demand for Precision Machining

The demand for precision machining is rapidly growing across the United States. In the aerospace industry, technological advancements and an increased focus on safety standards drive the need for manufacturing solutions that meet exacting industry standards. Aerospace components must endure extreme conditions, such as high-pressure environments and rapid temperature changes, requiring exceptional precision to ensure reliability and performance. With the precision machining market projected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.8% over the next five years, industries like aerospace, automotive, and healthcare are fueling this expansion. In response to this increasing demand, we have recently completed an expansion of our operations.

About the Expansion

Before the expansion, our precision machining building was 14,500 square feet. Twenty-three machines were tightly packed in that space, leaving no room for additional growth. Recently, we underwent construction to add 17,000 square feet of manufacturing space. This expansion has created the space needed to add machines and grow our 3, 4, and 5-axis machining capabilities. We have already begun to utilize this space to better arrange our equipment into what are known as flow cells. Flow cells are a Lean concept that we use to create a more efficient space by physically bringing process steps together. If needed, the added space will allow us to move machining centers out of other buildings to consolidate similar equipment and make room for future machinery in other buildings.

Phases and Timelines

The expansion began in 2024 and has been completed. The next step was reorganizing the equipment, a process divided into three phases.

• Phase 1 – This consisted of moving five of our existing machines into the new space and was completed in early 2025.
• Phase 2 – This step began recently and includes moving five additional machines into the newly expanded space.
• Phase 3 – This final stage, which will consist of the re-organization of equipment within the existing space, is scheduled to begin in the coming months. 

Additionally, there were renovations to locker rooms and the conversion of our old CMM room into new office space, which will be completed in Q1 of 2025.
